" [Art] is the solution of problems that can only be articulated after they have been solved. The wording of the question also hides the answer." -  Piet Hein

Can you tell us a few words about yourself?

I'm Angela Suto. I'm a painter.

Where did the artist name Angelique Art come from?

I was learning French in the Alliance Françaises before. The "Angelique" is the French version of my name. It's unique and not so common that's why I liked and have chosen it.

How did you fall into the world of artists? When was the first time you thought you wanted to deal with this?

I love drawing and painting since my childhood. I always knew that I want to do this.

What work method do you use? What creative path have you taken so far?

An artist is always progressing. I'm also trying to develop my own technique and style.

You do several workflows on a project, but what is closest to you? How would you define yourself?

I love every step of the creating process. From that moment when I try to find any inspiration until I finish.

How would you define your own style? Was it difficult to take the first steps?

I don't want to belong to any school of style. I always wanted to make my own style better and better. Taking the first step wasn't difficult for me because I was always sure that I want to be an artist.

Can we talk about the technical side? What techniques and tools do you use in your projects? What equipments are you currently working on?

An artist can paint with many tools. I use brushes, palette knives, rollers and many other things.

Inspiration is very important in art. What inspires you, what are the things that inspire you?

The rhythm of the traffic in the city, the lights and shadows on the streets and the reflections on the wet pavement after a heavy rain. These are my inspirations nowadays.

Could you tell us a little more about what you have learned so far? Have you pursued any studies that have helped / facilitated your current career?

A painter is always learning. Creating is a learning process through the whole life. Every creation that we make is teaching something to the artist.

How typical is instinct for your work? How do you get started with a work, could you describe the process? What do you need to create?

Creation is a conscious process generated by emotions. It starts with drawing ideas and then when I'm inspired by something, I decide which size of board I want to work on. Then I prepare it. Later I draw the sketch on to the board and I continue the work with the underpainting. Finally comes the bigger part of the work, the painting itself.

Which part of your work do you like the most? What do you like to create best?

I love everything in the creation. There is no part that I wouldn't love to.

Your work is strikingly different in style from the main striking directions. What could you most liken your art to? Do you consciously shape your own style?

I don't want to compare my art to anything. I have built it from the beginning and my goal was to be totally unique.

Could you give an example where random discoveries have affected your creations?

Because I know what I am doing, random things can't happen. Every development or innovation has a reason why I do it the way I do.

If there was no barrier to money, what would you like to deal with?

I wouldn't change a thing. Art is my life. I wouldn't do anything else.

How do you have fun, what does this concept mean to you?

For me having fun means traveling, hiking, swimming.

If we want to get to know your creations better, where can we do that?

On my website at the following link : https://angelasuto.com/

Furthermore on my Facebook page where you can see not only the paintings, but also timelapse videos and phase photo posts about the painting process :

How personal is the basis of your work? Do you always create from personal motivation?

Each artist paints from personal motivation. After all, the theme of his / her inspiration is strained through on his / her thoughts, inside world and the whole process is affected by his vision and his emotions.

What do you think has changed the concept of art projected for each generation, and if so, how?

Yes. Art is constantly changing. Since the invention of the camera, painters have not primarily aimed at photo realistic representations of reality. It is rather about telling stories, making people think or shock them.

Is there a work, perhaps recognition, that you are especially proud of?

I'm equally proud all of my creations.

What expectations must be met by those who want to thrive as an artist in the future?

If someone wants to be an artist seriously, he needs to start with the basics. He has to study art history, anatomy, color theory, brushwork, etc. and beside that he has to draw and practice a lot. If someone wants to be a really good artist, then he has to invest many years in it, as well as plenty of energy and work. We can also say that art is more of a marathon than a sprint.

How do you remember the initial wing rehearsals? Do you look back on your work as an enthusiastic "amateur"?

I don't really like dealing with the past. I know where I started, where I am now and where I want to go.

What content do you enjoy consuming in your free time?

I never watch TV. I prefer to read books especially historical types. Or I watch movies on the internet. The deep and serious ones are the most close to me.

How do you see people's attitudes towards art?

People basically love art. But unfortunately, there is a trend in the world that a fairly large number of people like works that are as simple and easy to accept as possible. This is true in all areas of art, from music to visual creations.

How critical are you to your work?

I'm highly critical of myself. I always try to get the most out of the given theme, so I always look at the current painting with critical eyes.

How long does an image take to shape between your hands? When is a drawing ready for you? (although I know it depends on a lot...)

My larger creations ( 103 x 70 cm), done in three weeks along with drying times. For me, a picture is ready when I feel like it's ready. Mostly artists can feel this.

Each creator can usually name at least one person whom he considers a mentor who has had a great influence on him. Can you tell us a little bit about this?

For me, the best mentor was the British painter Alan McNab, who taught me a lot about the importance of the right composition. Respectively, with his advice, he helped me a lot to perform better as an artist.

What are you doing when you do not work on a drawing because your days go by? What are your goals? What other things do you care about? Do you have another hobby?

I could say I almost always work. ☺ But if I'm not creating, I love to taking photos. The macro photography is one of my favorite.

How does your lifestyle affect your social relationships? Where do you have so much energy from for so many things?

Sure the people who are close to me need to learn to deal with the fact, that art is my first, as well as that I live in different rhythm. Many times I'm still working in the studio at night until two or three in the morning. However, since I am not the only artist in my family, because my sister is a composer, pianist and jazz singer, this is not so unusual for us. And this is how my friends love and accept me, because they understand that when I create that's the most important thing to me that time.

Do you still see that you have made the right decision to choose this path?

I would never decide otherwise.

If you could have a super ability, what would you choose?

Since for me traveling, discovering new landscapes, cultures are the part of my life, I think I could enjoy the most the ability to fly.

If you could go anywhere, where would you most like to go?

There are a lot of such places. I want to explore Iceland, Scotland and all of Asia.

Are you a designer, a goal-setting artist, or do you trust your destiny that everything will always be achieved at the right moment anyway?

I always have plans, goals. I try to reach them.

How do you envision your life in 10 years?

In 10 years, I will hopefully become an even better-known artist who is happy and content with her life.
